Holzhäusern/ZG – From August 13 to 15, 2026, Holzhäusern will become the hotspot for international women’s golf. The top players on the Ladies European Tour will gather for the 7th VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open—featuring Swiss hopefuls, free admission, 350,000 EUR in prize money, and live global broadcast.
About a month earlier than usual, Switzerland’s largest and most important international tournament for professional women golfers will be held at Migros Golfpark Holzhäusern. This is due to the date of this year’s Solheim Cup—the prestigious biennial competition between the top American and European women golfers. The counterpart to the men’s Ryder Cup will take place this year in mid-September at Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt, the Netherlands.
Chiara Tamburlini, currently the top Swiss professional golfer, has been playing on the U.S. LPGA Tour since this season and is currently ranked 90th in the world. The participation of the Eastern Swiss golfer in her home tournament on picturesque Lake Zug has not yet been confirmed and depends on the results of upcoming tournaments. Confirmed in the field are Morgane Métraux, who played on the LPGA Tour until 2025, and Vanessa Knecht. Both are directly eligible to compete thanks to their LET status. Kim Métraux de Heer will not be competing, as she is taking a break due to her pregnancy. The Swiss lineup will be supplemented by several wild cards.
One of these coveted invitations goes to 19-year-old amateur Sarah Uebelhart from Hünenberg See. The rising star from the Ennetsee Golf Club is studying at Clemson University in South Carolina, USA, and plays for the Clemson Tigers college team.
Defending champion Alice Hewson is also sure to be in the field. The Englishwoman made tournament history in 2025 when, with a final score of 200 strokes (-13), she became the first player ever to win back-to-back titles at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open. In the race for the coveted wooden cow “Muuhligan” in Holzhäusern, the 27-year-old will be the one to beat.
The VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open has much to offer beyond the sport itself: Event partners will showcase their offerings in the Public Village, while a varied catering selection will provide food and refreshments. In the traditional “Beat the Pro” Challenge, ten girls from Swiss Golf’s Golf4Girls development program will take on the top players of the LET in the middle of the final round. The venue for this exciting side event is the 8th hole. Admission for sports and golf enthusiasts is free on all three days of the tournament. Those looking for a more exclusive experience can enjoy the best view of the action from the VP Bank Lounge on the 18th green. Tickets for this experience, including catering, are limited.
